Brentford manager Keith Andrews has publicly stated that he 'fully expects' Yoane Wissa to remain at the club as the summer transfer window draws to a close. Despite two rejected bids from Newcastle United, the latest amounting to £40 million, Andrews remains optimistic about Wissa's future with the Bees.

Wissa, a 28-year-old forward, recently removed all references to Brentford from his Instagram account, fueling speculation about his potential departure. He has also missed Brentford's opening Premier League matches against Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa but has since returned to training.

Andrews confirmed that Wissa will not feature in Brentford's Carabao Cup second-round tie against Bournemouth on Tuesday. However, he emphasized that there has been no significant movement regarding Wissa's transfer status and that he expects the DR Congo international to remain with the club.

"What goes on is going on at every single club I imagine, up and down the land, the disruptive nature of it. But the focus is on the group tomorrow," Andrews stated. "Yoane won't be involved. But as far as I'm concerned, there's been no movement in any way, and I fully expect Yoane to be here come next Tuesday."

Andrews, who took over as Brentford manager in June following Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham, acknowledged that Wissa's impressive performance last season, including 49 goals in 149 appearances, naturally attracted interest from other clubs. "I knew there was, or would be, interest," Andrews added. "He's built his career at this football club over the last four years where he's grown in stature and presence. I'm not surprised by it."

Despite the ongoing speculation, Andrews believes that keeping Wissa out of the Bournemouth match was the best decision for the team as they focus on their upcoming challenges in the Premier League.
