Jahmai Simpson-Pusey Aims to Shine at Celtic: A New Chapter in His Football Journey

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey joins Celtic on loan, eager to showcase his skills and contribute to the team's success in the Scottish Premiership and Europe.

Jahmai Simpson-Pusey is set to make a significant impact at Celtic after joining the Scottish Premiership champions on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The 19-year-old defender, who captained Manchester City to victory in the 2024 FA Youth Cup final, is ready to demonstrate his talent and elevate his game in Glasgow.

A Promising Talent

Simpson-Pusey, an England Under-18 international, has already gained valuable experience at the senior level. Last season, he made six appearances for Manchester City, including starts in both the Premier League and the Champions League. Despite not featuring in the first team from January onwards, he led City's reserves to a Premier League 2 play-off final victory over Southampton.

A New Opportunity

Speaking about his move to Celtic, Simpson-Pusey expressed his excitement and determination: "It's such a big club and I'm happy to come here, play in front of the fans, and play for the team. This is a big opportunity. I want to come here and show my talent and my levels. It'll be good for me to come and hopefully help the team to win the league again and do well in Europe."

Manager's Confidence

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has high hopes for the young defender. Rodgers emphasized the importance of strengthening the squad and believes Simpson-Pusey will be a valuable addition: "I am really pleased we have been able to bring Jahmai to Celtic, and I believe he will be an important, quality addition to our squad. Jahmai is a quick, dominant centre-half. He is a strong defender but can also move the ball forward very well as we progress through the pitch."

Looking Ahead

As Celtic prepares for the upcoming season, both domestically and in Europe, Simpson-Pusey's arrival adds depth and competition to the squad. Rodgers is confident that the young defender will settle in well and contribute to the team's success: "I know Jahmai is excited about this move and bringing him to the club creates even more competition which will only benefit us. I am sure he will settle in well with the squad as we get ready for the matches we have coming up at home and abroad."
