Scott McKenna Joins Dinamo Zagreb: A New Chapter After Las Palmas Exit

Scott McKenna signs a multi-year contract with Dinamo Zagreb after leaving Las Palmas, marking a significant move in his football career.

Scott McKenna has officially joined Dinamo Zagreb following his departure from Las Palmas. The 28-year-old Scottish centre-half, who activated a release clause after Las Palmas' relegation from La Liga, has secured a "multi-year" contract with the Croatian club.

McKenna, born in Angus, Scotland, made 31 appearances for Las Palmas, starting in all but two of those matches. His journey in professional football began at Aberdeen, where he progressed through the youth system and eventually broke into the first team at Pittodrie. In 2020, he was transferred to Nottingham Forest, where he played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Premier League. However, injuries hindered his progress, leading to a loan move to Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga.

In August, McKenna moved to Las Palmas, where he shared the pitch with fellow Scottish international Oli McBurnie. Despite their efforts, the team finished second from the bottom in La Liga, resulting in their relegation.

Dinamo Zagreb, who narrowly missed out on the Croatian league title to Rijeka on a head-to-head basis despite having a better goal difference, have secured direct entry into the Europa League. The club is now under the leadership of new head coach Mario Kovacevic, who will be looking to leverage McKenna's experience and defensive prowess in the upcoming season.

This transfer marks a new chapter in McKenna's career, as he aims to make a significant impact in Croatian football and contribute to Dinamo Zagreb's ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.
