Jofra Archer Confirms Readiness for Final Two Tests Against India

Jofra Archer declares his fitness and readiness to play in the last two Tests against India, marking a strong return to Test cricket.

Jofra Archer has confidently stated his ability to participate in England's final two Tests against India, following a successful comeback in the recent match at Lord's. After a hiatus of over four years due to injuries, Archer played a pivotal role in England's tense 22-run victory, which secured a 2-1 lead in the series.

Archer's return was nothing short of spectacular, taking a wicket with his third ball and securing three wickets in India's second innings. His performance dispelled any doubts about his fitness and ability to endure the rigors of Test cricket. He bowled 39.2 overs with an average speed never dropping below 87mph, including 41 deliveries exceeding 90mph.

Despite concerns about managing his workload in the upcoming back-to-back Tests at Old Trafford and The Oval, Archer expressed his eagerness to play, stating, "I can play the other two if they let me." He emphasized his commitment to the team and his aspirations for the upcoming Ashes series.

Archer's journey back to Test cricket has been marked by careful management, focusing on white-ball matches to rebuild his fitness. His return is timely for England, which has seen a resurgence under the leadership of captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum, adopting an aggressive style of play that suits Archer's approach.

In addition to Archer's return, England has recalled spinner Liam Dawson after an eight-year absence from Test cricket, replacing the injured Shoaib Bashir for the fourth Test starting on 23 July. Archer is joined by fellow seamers Gus Atkinson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, and Josh Tongue, bolstering England's bowling attack.

Archer's presence adds a significant threat to England's strategy as they aim to maintain their lead in the series and prepare for future challenges, including the Ashes.
