Axel Tuanzebe Takes Legal Action Against Manchester United Over Medical Negligence
Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe sues the club for alleged negligent medical advice, seeking over £1m in damages.

Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe has initiated legal proceedings against his former club, alleging negligent medical advice during his tenure. The 27-year-old, who recently signed with Burnley, filed a high-value claim with the High Court last week, seeking damages exceeding £1 million.
The claim stems from an unknown injury sustained in July 2022, which sidelined Tuanzebe for 195 days during his final season at United. He was subsequently loaned to Stoke City in January 2023, where he made only five appearances.
Tuanzebe, who joined Manchester United at the age of eight, made his senior debut in 2017 and accumulated 37 appearances for the club. His final match for United was the 2021 Europa League final against Villarreal, where he scored in the penalty shootout despite the team's 11-10 loss.
The defender, who captained United at various youth levels, also had loan spells at Aston Villa and Napoli before leaving Old Trafford in 2023. He later joined Ipswich Town as a free agent in September 2023.
Tuanzebe, who now represents the DR Congo national team, has enlisted the legal services of Simons Muirhead Burton for the case. Both Tuanzebe's legal team and Manchester United have declined to comment on the ongoing litigation.
