Euro 2025 Spotlight: Lioness Jess Carter Honored with Train Naming Ceremony

Ahead of Euro 2025, Lioness Jess Carter is honored with a train naming ceremony, celebrating her achievements and inspiring future athletes.

West Midlands Railway has unveiled a new train named after Jess Carter, the renowned Lioness, as England gears up for the Euro 2025 tournament. This special tribute honors the Warwick-born footballer, who has made over 40 appearances for England.

Ceremony Highlights A special ceremony was held at Leamington Spa railway station, attended by teachers and pupils from Jess Carter's former secondary school, Myton School. Rachel Cole, a teacher at Myton School, shared heartfelt words about Jess's journey:

"Jess was a talented all-round athlete and it has been inspiring to see how her career has progressed since leaving school. From winning titles to representing her country in the World Cup final, everyone at Myton is incredibly proud of what she has achieved."

Inspiration for the Next Generation The newly-named "Jess Carter" train is part of the Class 196 fleet, which began service in 2022 on routes connecting Hereford, Worcester, Nuneaton, Coventry, and Leamington Spa. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of athletes to achieve their sporting potential.

Jess Carter's Career Jess Carter began her senior career at Birmingham City at the age of 16. She was a key member of the triumphant Lioness squad that lifted the Euro 2022 trophy. Her dedication and versatility on the football pitch have made her a role model for aspiring athletes.

Community Support The community continues to rally behind Jess and the Lionesses as they prepare for Euro 2025. The train naming ceremony not only celebrates Jess's achievements but also underscores the importance of supporting women in sports.
