Newcastle United Issues Apology Over Controversial Kit Launch Video

Newcastle United apologizes for any offense caused by a controversial scene in their new third kit launch video, featuring fan Sam Fender.

Newcastle United has issued an apology following the release of their new third kit launch video, which inadvertently caused offense due to a scene featuring a flag resembling the Rising Sun flag used by Japanese armed forces during World War II.

Video Details and Response The video, which initially included the controversial flag, was quickly removed from all of the club's social media channels and replaced with an adapted version. Newcastle United stated, "The reaction to our new third kit with Adidas has been special, but the launch video contained a scene that could inadvertently cause offence. We apologise for that. We've removed the scene from the film to make sure that as many fans as possible can enjoy it."

Fan Involvement The video featured Newcastle fan and renowned singer Sam Fender, adding a personal touch to the kit launch. However, the inclusion of the flag led to significant backlash from fans and the broader football community.

Club's Commitment to Inclusivity Newcastle United emphasized their commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that their content is respectful to all fans. The swift action to remove the controversial scene demonstrates the club's dedication to addressing concerns promptly.
