Bryan Mbeumo's Future at Brentford: Man Utd's Pursuit and the Club's Stance

Brentford's director of football, Phil Giles, discusses Bryan Mbeumo's future amid Manchester United's interest and the club's stance on potential transfers.

Brentford's Stance on Bryan Mbeumo's Future

Brentford's director of football, Phil Giles, has made it clear that the club will only consider selling Bryan Mbeumo if the "deal is right." Despite significant interest from Manchester United, who have already had two offers rejected, the possibility of Mbeumo remaining at Brentford next season is still on the table.

Manchester United's Pursuit

Manchester United's interest in the 25-year-old Cameroonian striker has been well-documented. Their second offer, which reportedly reached up to £62.5 million, was turned down by Brentford. Mbeumo, who joined Brentford from French club Troyes in 2019, has expressed his desire to move to Old Trafford. However, Giles emphasized that the club is in "constant dialogue" with Mbeumo and his representatives.

Mbeumo's Career Aspirations

"He had a fantastic season, we expected big interest in him, we have had big interest in him," Giles told BBC Sport. "He has his ideas about where he wants to take his career, of course he does - he is well within his rights to do that." Giles also noted that it is "not impossible" for Mbeumo to remain a Brentford player next season if both parties agree.

The Importance of the Right Deal

Giles reiterated that any potential transfer must be beneficial for Brentford. "It has to be the right deal for Brentford, any club will tell you that. If it's not the right deal, why would we do it?" he said. Mbeumo is considered one of Brentford's best players, and the club is keen on retaining their top talent.

Christian Norgaard's Potential Move to Arsenal

In other transfer news, Giles confirmed that captain Christian Norgaard is close to joining Arsenal. The two Premier League clubs have reportedly agreed on a fee, believed to be up to £15 million, including add-ons. "We have been in conversations with Arsenal for the last week to 10 days - as it stands it hasn't been completed yet but it is heading in that direction," Giles said.

Conclusion

As the transfer window progresses, Brentford remains focused on making decisions that best serve the club's interests. Whether Mbeumo stays or goes, the club is determined to ensure that any move aligns with their long-term goals.
