Matheus Cunha’s Unwavering Loyalty to Wolves Amid Transfer Speculations

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha reaffirms his commitment to the club, dismissing transfer rumors and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to play in the Premier League.

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has firmly dismissed any speculation about his departure during the winter transfer window, emphasizing his unwavering loyalty to the club. The 25-year-old Brazilian, who joined Wolves initially on loan from Atletico Madrid, has since become a pivotal player for the team.

Transfer Rumors and Commitment

Cunha was linked with moves to top Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United in January. However, he swiftly quashed these rumors by signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Wolves earlier this month. "I never thought about leaving, honestly," Cunha stated in an interview with Football Focus. "Wolves gave me the chance to come back and I always felt I wanted to give back everything."

Journey to Wolves

Cunha’s journey to Wolves was not without its challenges. After missing out on Brazil’s 2022 World Cup squad, he described the experience as "a little bit of depression." "You go down, you don’t want to go to training, you don’t want to do things," he shared. However, Wolves offered him a lifeline and the opportunity to fulfill his dream of playing in the Premier League. "When Wolves came in, one of my dreams was playing in the Premier League, and they gave me that chance," he added.

On-Field Contributions

This season, Cunha has emerged as Wolves' leading scorer, netting 11 goals in 23 Premier League matches. Despite the team’s precarious position in the relegation zone, Cunha remains optimistic about their survival. "Of course, the fans need to be excited. I keep saying, 'Keep belief to the end.' We need to feel focused and confident to change the situation," he said.

Looking Ahead

Cunha’s commitment to Wolves is unwavering, and he is determined to help the team turn their fortunes around. "I will do everything. I hope I help everyone to be better, and we solve the situation as fast as we can," he concluded.

As Wolves continue their fight for Premier League survival, Cunha’s loyalty and determination will undoubtedly be crucial in their quest to remain in the top flight.
