Heskey Brothers Shine in Man City Debuts: A New Era Begins
Reigan and Jaden Heskey make their Manchester City debuts in the Carabao Cup, marking a proud moment for their family and the club.

When Manchester City fans at Huddersfield sang the names of Yaya and Kolo Toure, they might not have expected to witness another set of brothers step onto the pitch. However, after Pep Guardiola's side took a 2-0 lead against their League One hosts in the Carabao Cup, the manager turned to his bench and beckoned forward brothers Reigan and Jaden Heskey, sons of former England striker Emile Heskey.
A Family Legacy Continues
Reigan and Jaden Heskey, aged 17 and 19 respectively, made their first-team debuts for Manchester City. Reigan is described as a "tricky, clinical winger," while Jaden is seen as a "mature, hard-working" box-to-box midfielder. Both have been regulars in City's academy teams, with Jaden often captaining the club's Premier League 2 matches.
Guardiola's Praise
"Today, six players from the academy made the starting XI," said Guardiola. "Two more came on, the Heskey brothers. I think their father and mother will be so proud of their kids. That's really cool."
Phil Foden's Stellar Performance
Earlier in the match, Phil Foden, perhaps City's most decorated youth graduate of recent years, once again caught the eye. The midfielder has scored two goals and provided two assists in five games this season, playing a starring role in Wednesday's win at Accu Stadium.
Foden's Journey
Foden's struggles last season were due to off-field issues and carrying an injury, which saw him go on a run of 20 games without scoring. However, the 25-year-old looks like he is approaching the form that saw him collect the Player of the Season and Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year awards in 2024.
Future Prospects
Both Heskey brothers and Kalvin Phillips, who also returned to the team, will be eyeing up further minutes when City head to Swansea in the next round. The future looks bright for these young talents as they continue to make their mark on the pitch.
