The Chicago White Sox have made significant moves to strengthen their team ahead of the 2025 MLB season. On Friday, the team announced the signing of veteran infielder Brandon Drury to a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to the big league spring training camp.

Brandon Drury's Career Performance

Drury, 32, is coming off a challenging 2024 season with the Los Angeles Angels, where he batted just .169 with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 97 games. However, his previous seasons show his potential. In 2022, while playing for the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres, Drury hit .263 with a career-high 28 home runs and 87 RBIs. He also had 26 homers and 83 RBIs in his first season with the Angels in 2023.

Versatility on the Field

Drury's versatility is a key asset. He has made starts at multiple positions, including first base, second base, third base, shortstop, left field, and right field, making him a valuable utility player for the White Sox.

Other Signings

In addition to Drury, the White Sox claimed left-hander Brandon Eisert off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. Eisert, 27, made his major league debut last year, pitching 6⅔ innings of three-run ball over three relief appearances for the Toronto Blue Jays. To make room for Eisert on their 40-man roster, the White Sox designated right-hander Steven Wilson for assignment. Wilson had a 5.71 ERA in 40 relief appearances for Chicago last year.

The team also signed Tristan Gray, a 28-year-old infielder who has appeared in 17 big league games over the last two years, batting .152 with one home run.

Outfield Update

Additionally, outfielder Zach DeLoach cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte, providing depth in the minor leagues for the White Sox.
